Interpreters
OHSNI employs five Inuktitut/ English interpreters to provide professional communication services for patients, their escorts and hospital personnel daily. These interpreters are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These interpreters may be the sole patient contact in difficult and stressful medical situations.
Case Managers
The two nurses are responsible for providing continuity of care by completing discharge planning, informing the family and staff of the patient’s progress, providing crisis management, and overseeing child safety issues. These nurses share being duties with the Social Worker. A nurse or social worker is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Social Worker
The Social Worker is responsible for assisting patients and escorts with problems related to the health care that the patient is receiving while in
. This professional supports and councils patients and their families on how tocope with the stress of being away from home. The Social Worker shares on-call duties. Ottawa
Administration Staff
A Support Care Coordinator is responsible for booking interpretive services, sending medical consults to the correct specialist and triaging appointments .The Coordinator sees to it that urgent medical needs are dealt with quickly, while booking medical consultations and supporting tests.
Director of Operations
This manager oversees the daily operation of the program ensuring OHSNI continues to provide services directed by the patients' needs, and by the Department of Health and Social Services of Nunavut
